88 Important Truths I’ve Learned About Lifeby David on July 2, 2009

Post image for 88 Important Truths I’ve Learned About LifeEveryone gets drilled with certain lessons in life. Sometimes it takes repeated demonstrations of a given law of life to really get it into your skull, and other times one powerful experience drives the point home once forever. Here are 88 things I’ve discovered about life, the world, and its inhabitants by this point in my short time on earth.

1. You can’t change other people, and it’s rude to try.

2. It is a hundred times more difficult to burn calories than to refrain from consuming them in the first place.

3. If you’re talking to someone you don’t know well, you may be talking to someone who knows way more about whatever you’re talking about than you do.

4. The cheapest and most expensive models are usually both bad deals.

5. Everyone likes somebody who gets to the point quickly.

6. Bad moods will come and go your whole life, and trying to force them away makes them run deeper and last longer.

7. Children are remarkably honest creatures until we teach them not to be.

8. If everyone in the TV show you’re watching is good-looking, it’s not worth watching.

9. Yelling always makes things worse.

10. Whenever you’re worried about what others will think of you, you’re really just worried about what you’ll think of you.

11. Every problem you have is your responsibility, regardless of who caused it.

12. You never have to deal with more than one moment at a time.

13. If you never doubt your beliefs, then you’re wrong a lot.

14. Managing one’s wants is the most powerful skill a person can learn.

15. Nobody has it all figured out.

16. Cynicism is far too easy to be useful.

17. Every passing face on the street represents a story every bit as compelling and complicated as yours.

18. Whenever you hate something, it hates you back: people, situations and inanimate objects alike.

19. Ralph Waldo Emerson’s works alone can teach you everything you need to know about living with grace and happiness.

20. People embellish everything, as a rule.

21. Anger reveals weakness of character, violence even moreso.

22. Humans cannot destroy the planet, but we can destroy its capacity to keep us alive.  And we are.

23. When people are uncomfortable with the present moment, they fidget with their hands or their minds.  Watch and see.

24. Those who complain the most, accomplish the least.

25. Putting something off makes it instantly harder and scarier.

26. Credit card debt devours souls.

27. Nobody knows more than a minuscule fraction of what’s going on in the world. It’s just way too big for any one person to know it well.

28. Most of what we see is only what we think about what we see.

29. A person who is unafraid to present a candid version of herself to the world is as rare as diamonds.

30. The most common addiction in the world is the draw of comfort. It wrecks dreams and breaks people.

31. If what you’re doing feels perfectly safe, there is probably a better course of action.

32. The greatest innovation in the history of humankind is language.

33. Blame is the favorite pastime of those who dislike responsibility.

34. Everyone you meet is better than you at something.

35. Proof is nothing but a collection of opinions that match your own.

36. Knowledge is belief, nothing more.

37. Indulging your desires is not self-love.

41. Revenge is for the petty and irresponsible.

42. Getting truly organized can vastly improve anyone’s life.

43. Almost every cliché contains a truth so profound that people have been compelled to repeat it until it makes you roll your eyes. But the wisdom is still in there.

51. “Gut feeling” is not just a euphemism. Tension in the abdomen speaks volumes about how you truly feel about something, beyond all arguments and rationales.

52. Posture and dress change profoundly how you feel about yourself and how others feel about you, like it or not.

Teeth

Monday, January 11th, 2010

The seemingly never ending saga with my quest for straight teeth…. oy. I’ve been out of braces for 2 years come this May and have noticed a bit of a relapse with one of my front teeth. My boss/new dentist had a new ‘dentaligner’ created for me which should have slowly shifted the straying tooth back to it’s post-braces position last August. It wasn’t working but the retainer itself was at least holding the shape for me in the meantime. This retainer snapped in half before the Christmas holidays, leaving me with nothing to hold the existing space. We got the new retainer back after the holidays however after not wearing anything for so long all 4 of my front teeth have moved and the retainer doesnt fit…..

SOLUTION: Shave between all existing teeth ( in dental lingo Interproximal Reduction ) to create space, and jam that fucking retainer in until it fits. Ummm….FUCKING OUCH! Tonight is not going to be awesome.

Vaccinated

Friday, December 18th, 2009

I had a wonderful conversation with one of the Doctor’s that works across the street from our office in Yaletown. When explaining his reccommendation for what to get he said “it’s like putting a seatbelt on in the car. I take approx 800 trips per year, and have for the last 22 years. I’ve been in 2 accidents and didn’t need a belt for either of them”. He explained the actual risk of getting the things we vaccinate for it quite low, and if it was himself in the same position he would just get Durkoral.  So I updated my Hep A & B in office, got my Durkoral script as well as another one for the poops. He said I could consider filling it and bringing it with me, if needed, however I think I might just bring Immodium. So… glad that’s out of the way

THINK FOR YOURSELVES! QUESTION AUTHORITY!

Thursday, October 29th, 2009
The contents of the H1N1 vaccine that the World Health Organization (and soon too the US Government, via Executive Order or treaty) will be mandating that we all take?  The contents might surprise you.
* aluminum hydroxide* aluminum phosphate* ammonium sulfate* amphotericin B
* animal tissues: pig blood, horse blood, rabbit brain, dog kidney, monkey kidney,
* chick embryo, chicken egg, duck egg* calf (bovine) serum* betapropiolactone
* fetal bovine serum* formaldehyde* formalin* gelatin* glycerol
* human diploid cells (originating from human aborted fetal tissue)
* hydrolized gelatin* mercury thimerosol (thimerosal, Merthiolate(r))
* monosodium glutamate (MSG)* neomycin* neomycin sulfate* phenol red indicator
* phenoxyethanol (antifreeze)* potassium diphosphate* potassium monophosphate
* polymyxin B* polysorbate 20* polysorbate 80
* porcine (pig) pancreatic hydrolysate of casein* residual MRC5 proteins* sorbitol
* tri(n)butylphosphate,
* VERO cells, a continuous line of monkey kidney cells, and
* washed sheep red blood
Now, considering the fact that the elites of this nation and of the world, the same elites who so many times have ripped us off, destroyed our banks and wealth, lied to us all, started wars for profit, left our border open for invasion of cheap labor and the lowering of our standard of living, sent our good-paying jobs overseas, those who will be making hundreds of billions of dollars from this vaccine if it is mandated, who will benefit from more illnesses the vaccine may cause and basically. have turned man against his own brother for profit, don’t you think that it might be just a little bit of wisdom to first do in-depth research as to what effects the contents (especially the chemical ones) of this untested and unproven vaccine might have on the human body BEFORE you, your pregnant wives and your children line up like mindless sheep to take it?  After all, even if you do take it, there is no guarantee you will not still contract the disease itself, is there?  Maye you want to honestly ask yourself the question if the virus itself has been engineered by these evil elitists’ to further their agenda of control and power.
Is this an unreasonable request of you America, to use the gray matter that God gave you to protect yourselves and your children from these evil elitists criminals who have repeatedly proven themselves to be your enemies?  Think outside the box people, for the information that these elitists provide us within the confines of the box is mostly false.

Please, please. please folks… think about the long term ramifications of stuffing unknown chemicals into your body. Think about how quickly they created this and how impossible it is for us to know what it’s going to do to your body down the road. Do not board the panic train the media is attempting to flood us with.  Please… think for yourselves.

A forwarded email

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

I am hesitant to post anything forwarded in email’s, or random web links without doing a plethora of my own research to validate it. I am making an acception to this because alot of it just promotes healthy living alternatives – regardless if you want to believe that it’s going to help prevent your chances of getting cancer. As a former vegetarian I know the differences I saw in my body ( good with skin/water weight, bad with energy levels/will to live ) when I made simple changes like cutting out meat. I found that personally my body needs a little bit of real meat protein in order to function and keep up with my lifestyle, however when I cut coffee out after two weeks of hell I was less irritable, happier, and clear headed.

Either way – do whatever the hell you want

AFTER YEARS OF TELLING PEOPLE CHEMOTHERAPY IS THE ONLY WAY TO TRY (TRY THE KEY WORD) AND ELIMINATE CANCER, JOHN HOPKINS IS FINALLY STARTING TO TELL YOU THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE WAY.
          Cancer Update from John Hopkins

         1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.
        2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person’s lifetime

        3. When the person’s immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumors.
        4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors.
        5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.
        6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastro-intestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.
        7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.
        8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumor size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumor destruction.
9 When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.
      10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.

The most effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply.

         CANCER CELLS FEED ON:
         a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal,Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in color. Better alternative is Bragg’s aminos or sea salt.
         b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soya milk cancer cells are being starved.
         c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork.. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, e specially to people with cancer.
         d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells. To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts)and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at
        temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).
         e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine.Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties. Water-best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.
         12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines become putrified and leads to more toxic buildup.
         13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body’s killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.
         14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Flor-ssence,Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc.) to enable the body’s own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements like vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body’s normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded cells.
         15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor. Anger, unforgiveness and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy life.
         16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells.

CANCER UPDATE FROM JOHN HOPKINS HOSPITAL , U S – PLEASE READ
        1. No plastic containers in micro.

        2. No water bottles in freezer.

        3. No plastic wrap in microwave.! ! !

Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletters. This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well.
Dioxin chemicals causes cancer, especially breast cancer.
Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies.
Don’t freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic.
Recently, Dr. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital , was on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us.. He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers.
This especially applies to food s that contain fat. He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body. Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food. You get the same results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else.
Paper is n’t bad but you don’t know what is in the paper. It’s just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc. He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons.
Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the hi gh heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food. Cover food with a paper towel instead.

This is an article that should be sent to anyone important in your life.

I think for the very first time I am living my life for myself. Really, truly for myself. I won’t lie and tell you I got here for any reason other than utter heartbreak. However, it was the most positive variety. Because I think in it I really discovered alot about myself that I think I was waiting to realize. Mainly I was seeing behavior reflected in my own from a certain family member I am not too fond of – and the minute I saw it I nipped it in the bud. Unfortunately at the expense of a relationship.

And so here I am – fiercely independant. This isn’t news to me – yet I didn’t realize how much it should really impact my dating life. When I was dating Dan he was in town for only 8 days a month and realistically that was PERFECT for me. I really enjoy my space and I really enjoy my personal time. As much as I am looking for somebody to welcome into my space – I need that person to respect it just as much. I used to think that once upon a time I am going to find this perfect mix of human to match my creativity, wit, style, lifestyle – and that life was going to make sense. But the older I get the more I realize… nothing makes sense.

I’m working alot on who I am, and fortunately my friend Elysha introduced me to somebody to help me figure things out along the way. It’s been a year and a half now… and I’m still trudging away. The more I learn about myself it seems the more I attract people suffering from the same things that I was when I first met Darcon. I went from being this little weeny who allowed people to walk all over her and dating the biggest jerks – to being somebody who is very confident in who she is… to dating weenies who allow people to walk all over them. Fuck!

So I’m back at ground zero. I am writing, and taking pictures, and creating, and just trying to make the most of who *I* am. I’ve gotten into this habit of living my life for the wrong reasons and I am trying to take hold of it for a change. And it’s hard. But I’m really working on it. And i am seeing alot of positive results – but they are coming slowly. I have found for the first time in my life that I am relating very much to women. Women! Never! I have had a few female friends over the years but I have never had the likeness to the frienship I have found in thenaiadmuseShe has become the most solid confidant I have had in years – sharing both the high highs, and the low low’s. I have with her discovered the true joys of having a real and true female friend – and it’s been overwhelming to say the least. One thing is for certain – I never want to live my life without my Kimmers again. <3 you bella!

So here I am… travelling, travelling as Carlos Castenada elude’s to… trying as much as ever to figure out what the purpose of my life is, and how best to fill my time. Thank god I have finally stopped trying to think that who I am has anything to do with the person who may or may not stand beside me. That’s a GIGANTIC freaking leap.
